Vyborg Wastewater Treatment

Project description

The project will enable the construction of a new 3.75 km long pressure sewer from the Vyborg Main Pumping Station to Vyborg Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP). It will improve sewage treatment in Vyborg by implementing chemical phosphorous removal, rehabilitating WWTP aeration and providing a new sludge dewatering unit.

Environmental benefits

The project will enable the existing wastewater treatment plant to be used to full capacity, and will reduce the risk of large amounts of wastewater entering the Gulf of Finland untreated. Phosphorus flowing into the Gulf of Finland will be reduced by at least 14 tonnes per year.
